From Excitement to Soul Seed Garden

Sample proofs from Duveroth's Coffee & Tee Garden collection: purple Zest Assured tee, white Acting on My Excitement tee with gold lettering, pink cap embroidered with Jehu, and two citrus-themed journals.

I wrote the article Excitement a month ago. And something happened once the words were out — the excitement didn't want to stay in the text. It wanted a place to keep living, step by step, moment by moment.

That's how the journals were born. Not as a product idea. As a need I had myself — to document what happened when I acted on my excitement, and which fears arrived hand in hand with it, because they almost always do. Writing by hand with a pen has always been my way of feeling words a little deeper. Something happens between the hand and the mind that doesn't happen on a keyboard.

The essence of meeting excitement found its place on the journal's first pages. And in excitement's own guidance, one thing led to another. What I had created for myself turned out to be something I wanted to share.

Then began the search for the right printer. One that could create what I saw in my mind, at a reasonable cost. I found them in England, and when the proof prints arrived, they exceeded expectations. The citrus on a velvet-soft cover, the paper quality, the gold spiral — everything held up in both versions I tested.

And then came the shirts

Zest Assured. Acting on my excitement. The words had already come alive in the journal. Images flowed through my mind, and now I wanted to find a way to let that energy keep flowing. I had only printed posters in various premium qualities before, and now I saw that these images wanted to be worn, to come alive. To become a statement for more than just myself.

Comfort Colors 1717 is said everywhere to hold that vintage look in its color — washed, soft, alive without looking worn out. I didn't want to take that for granted. The shirt I wanted to hold in my own hands first, before offering it to anyone else.

It held up. The color carries exactly the depth the photos promise, not artificial, not faded. I was curious about the embroidery too, since that's where so many productions fall short. My first test became a cap that stays mine alone — a story for another article. (Jehu was my childhood pony. A very "eager" horse who lived up to his name.) Relieved, I could confirm the threads sit tight, the outlines are clean. No loose thread, nothing that looks rushed.

The white shirt with the gold text is another expression of the same meaning. Acting on my excitement. Same words, a different feeling on the body, in a lighter cotton.

My moments in the garden

Sitting in my sleigh in the garden, letting the pen keep filling the journal's pages, has become one of my special moments.

Why I waited

Only offering what I can stand fully behind on my website isn't a rule I set to sound professional. It's simply how I work.

So I waited. Felt the fabric. Ran my finger across the print — deep, not plasticky. Wear the cap proudly on my head.

One last piece remains — making it simple for those of you ordering the journals to get them through customs yourselves without hassle, since they're printed in England. I'll have that solved before the shop opens for them.

But the shirts, and a few other lovely things, are already here in Soul Seed Garden.
