Living in your own excitement, in every moment

You are already carried by life force, fully. It burns in you right now, in this very moment, whether you are thinking about it or not. It does not need to be awakened or strengthened. It only needs to be met.

That is where all of this begins. In what is already lighting up in you and waiting to be seen.

A lifetime of distilling

I was born (astrologically speaking) with "Mercury stationary at 29 degrees in Virgo". The last degree of the sign that sorts and refines, frozen at the very turning point between retrograde and direct motion. It is an exact and rare point, and I have been pulled by it from within my whole life.

It means my mind never quite sets down what it has already understood. It turns the same thought again. Peels back one more layer. Circles around what already seemed clear, to see if there was a truth left underneath. My whole life this has looked like motion without an endpoint, like never being satisfied with the answer. But it is not a mind searching to be finished. It is a mind built to distil, where every layer peeled away takes me to the next layer of what is already true.

After fifty years of peeling layer after layer, this is what I have arrived at: Excitement is the soul's intuitive and true voice.

The signal that arrives before thought

Excitement arrives before you have time to think. A sharpened attention, a pull, something that lights up from within and is gone again if you don't catch it. It is an instrument, as precise as a compass needle, and it always points toward what is most true in you in the moment.

This is a way of living we are rarely taught. We are taught to think first and feel second, to ask if it is reasonable before we ask if it is true, to wait for the right timing, the right resources, the right confirmation. Excitement teaches us the opposite. It is already in the body before thought has had time to build a case for or against it. It only asks that you notice it, and act.

Fear is not a stop

Sometimes fear arrives in the same breath as excitement. That is not a contradiction. It is a sign that you are close to something that actually belongs to you.

In those moments, there is a question to ask yourself:

What must I believe is true to feel what I am feeling?

The answer is always there. And with the answer comes a choice, between acting on what is already lighting up in you or letting it slip by once more.

Every moment, not only the great turning points

It is easy to believe that excitement only belongs in life's biggest decisions. The career change. The move. The big leap. But it lives just as much in the smallest moments. How you set the table. Which way you walk to work. Which cup you choose to drink your morning coffee from.

Every such moment holds a choice between what lights you up and what is only habit. And it is right there, in the smallest moments of everyday life, that the relationship with your own excitement is actually built. In a thousand small meetings, day after day.

Acting on My Excitement

Acting on My Excitement is a phrase I have chosen for two reasons. I wanted to surround myself with it. And I wanted to make my own statement with it. Now I am giving you the same possibility.

The phrase now lives in several forms. Journals, for those who want to meet their excitement on paper, question by question, page by page. Catch the signal before thought has time to reshape it, meet the fear that comes with it, and see what actually moves once you act.

A cup to drink your morning coffee from. A shirt to wear on an ordinary day. A bag to bring to the store. The same words, the same choice, carried in more forms than a single page can hold.

Where it leads

You don't need to see the road to take the step. The step is complete in itself, exactly when you take it. It is by entering it that you find out where it leads. That reveals itself afterwards. And it never misleads you.
